DataCore Software announced it has entered into a Technology Partner Alliance with Vizioncore. DataCore also announced that is has co-authored a white paper with Vizioncore explaining how to deploy a complete solution for implementing an offsite backup that delivers full-fledged disaster recovery (DR). This solution combines two best-of-breed products: Vizioncore's vRanger Pro and SANmelody from DataCore Software Corporation.

In a move that will put pressure on EMC's VMware unit, Hitachi is claiming to have a mainframe-derived firmware approach to virtualization that's better than VMware or Xen or Microsoft. The approach has been built into a new species of Hitachi's blade servers called BladeSymphony with Virtage.

SOA Software announced that it has certified IBM WebSphere Message Broker as a Governed Service Platform. This certification allows customers to use IBM WebSphere Message Broker to implement and enforce governance policies for enterprise Web services providing reporting data to enable a closed-loop audit process as part of their enterprise SOA.

OpenSpan announced the OpenSpan Platform SOA Desktop Edition, a new version of its flagship product that accelerates the realization of SOA strategies by enabling the rapid integration of desktop, legacy, virtualized and rich Internet applications and the expression of those integrations as Web services. As a result, enterprises can SOA-enable more of the enterprise infrastructure so that they achieve the intended business benefits of SOA.

SoftLayer has advanced its backend systems, upgrading its fully redundant data warehouse storage arrays and adding an application layer processing cluster to enable a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). The data warehouse expansion included the installation of multi-petabyte storage arrays from EqualLogic (now Dell) in its Dallas, Seattle, and, when launched, Washington D.C. facilities to serve as the backend data storage powering all of SoftLayer's on-demand service offerings. Servers from SuperMicro provide the processing power for the new SOA infrastructure.

Transitive Corporation announced the availability of QuickTransit for the Solaris operating system (OS) on SPARC to Solaris on x86/64 systems. In addition, this latest product in the QuickTransit enterprise product line has achieved the Solaris Ready Logo certification from Sun. To complement this release, Transitive and Sun are investigating the development of future QuickTransit versions capable of running native x86 applications on SPARC-based platforms without modification to source code or binaries.

Virtualizing the I/O subsystems for large pools of servers, the 3Leaf Systems' V-8000 delivers mainframe-class availability and resiliency for commodity systems while dramatically reducing both capital and maintenance costs. The V-8000 delivers scalable I/O connectivity for servers residing in the 3Leaf Virtual Compute Environment (VCE). In addition to providing highly scalable and efficient I/O, the VCE architecture minimizes the cost of putting commodity servers into service by removing the need for local networking and storage.

Altor Network announced the launch of the virtual switch traffic analyzer and Virtual Network Firewall. Each system supports multi-vendor virtual platforms and is purpose-built to make virtualized data centers more secure than their physical counterparts. Altor's Virtual Network Security Analyzer (VNSA) and Virtual Network Firewall (VNF) provide visibility into virtual switch traffic and control over virtual machines (VMs) being deployed by enterprises, government agencies and organizations in regulated industries.

Veeam Software and Infotronics announced they have formed a partnership to better serve the Australasian virtualization market. Infotronics will now make Veeam products available as part of its portfolio.
